MEDICAL HERBALIST
For many years I ran my own herbal dispensary of 200 herbs which was wonderful as all herbalists will tell you. Unfortunately they are time consuming for a practitioner, take up a lot of space, and patients have less and less time to brew them up, so I moved to granular concentrates. Still fabulous, effective and so much easier for my patients. A teaspoon in a little water, a quick stir, then down the hatch. Generally, I use Chinese herbs for the more chronic and more serious disease.
Many Chinese herbs you may know, especially if you're a gardener, as many are plants and ornamental flowers which originally came from the Himalayan region of China - Honeysuckle, Forsythia, Chrysanthemum, Peony to name but a few.
For many years pharmaceutical companies have tried to get Chinese herbal medicines banned (and they're still working on it), as always they don't like the natural competition due to herbs being unpatentable i.e. there's no money in it for them. When in reality herbs are far safer and do not have the side effects found in modern drug therapy. Now however, they're rampaging through the Chinese materia medica extracting the active compounds by the thousands... whilst still downplaying and negating traditional medicines.
Chinese herbs are a wonderful and powerful resource for so many diseases and remember, many of these herbs have been taken for thousands of years.
